Richmond, Va., November 15, 2023 – Advantus Strategies, a Richmond-based consulting firm specializing in government relations, business development and environment and natural resource matters, has strengthened its government affairs team with the addition of Lauren Gilbert as Government Relations Associate.

Before joining Advantus, she served as Associate Director and Director of Programs for the Sorensen Institute at the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper School of Public Service. In her positions, she worked directly with over 1,200 program participants ranging from high school students to seasoned elected officials.

About Lauren Gilbert

As the Associate Director and Director of Programs at the Sorensen Institute, Gilbert was responsible for planning and execution of all Sorensen Institute Programs.

Gilbert has more than 12 years of experience working with Virginia public officials on pressing policy and educational issues. Prior to her service with the Sorensen Institute, she served political campaigns in Virginia.

Gilbert has a bachelor’s degree in political science and political communications from James Madison University. She also earned a master’s degree in political administration from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is originally from Alexandria, VA and currently resides in Richmond, VA.
